Childbirth can lead to postpartum depression. It can occur during pregnancy and/or following childbirth and can last up to a year. Some common symptoms are:
Feeling an inability to cope and not wanting to be left alone with the baby
Repetitive or compulsive tendencies like counting, checking, and excessive hygiene and cleaning
Insomnia and appetite loss resulting in rapid weight-loss
Fogginess and confusion
Extreme panic that can feel like a heart attack
